The Alberta layer matters
Alberta allows householders to use Schedule 3 domestic pesticides around their own homes. A person applying those products as a service needs the provincial certification or supervision required by the regulation.
Federal registration answers whether a pesticide is authorized in Canada; the label controls the named pest, treatment location and directions. The province—and sometimes the municipality—can add rules about who may apply it or where it may be used.
Before treating a household pest
Do not choose a pesticide until you know what organism you are trying to control and where the activity originates.
Food, water, clutter, gaps and building defects often determine whether a treatment holds.
Use only a Canadian-registered product for the pest and treatment site stated on its label.
Outdoor and landscape uses are the area most likely to have an additional municipal restriction.
