Newfoundland and Labrador regulates commercial pesticide operators, applicators and vendors. If a pest-control company is applying a pesticide for you, check that the business and applicator hold the required provincial credentials.
Federal registration answers whether a pesticide is authorized in Canada; the label controls the named pest, treatment location and directions. The province—and sometimes the municipality—can add rules about who may apply it or where it may be used.
Before treating a household pest
Do not choose a pesticide until you know what organism you are trying to control and where the activity originates.
Food, water, clutter, gaps and building defects often determine whether a treatment holds.
Use only a Canadian-registered product for the pest and treatment site stated on its label.
