PEI allows homeowners to buy selected domestic-class pesticides, including self-select and controlled-purchase products. Domestic use does not require professional applicator certification, but product and sale restrictions still apply.
Federal registration answers whether a pesticide is authorized in Canada; the label controls the named pest, treatment location and directions. The province—and sometimes the municipality—can add rules about who may apply it or where it may be used.
Before treating a household pest
Do not choose a pesticide until you know what organism you are trying to control and where the activity originates.
Food, water, clutter, gaps and building defects often determine whether a treatment holds.
Use only a Canadian-registered product for the pest and treatment site stated on its label.
Outdoor and landscape uses are the area most likely to have an additional municipal restriction.
